My rant for today is not really a rant. I just noticed this morning why it's not a good idea to put a Diet Pepsi in the freezer and forget about it. Turns out aluminum will only stretch so far before it burst and makes a real frozen mess!

Yeah...I've done that with Coke way too many times.

It's good to know I'm not the only one! The freezer needed cleaning, anyway. I'm still doing better than my brother, though. A few years back he put an egg in the microwave. It resulted in a different style of fried chicken!

on the opposite end of it, I've occasional put things like icecream etc in the refridge.... and it of course turns into a milk shake

These stupid commercials and people that has to say 'hashtag' between every word while they are TALKING!!!

All the "News" stations these days depend on Twits for their stories. They hardly bother to see if what they report is true or not.

That's probably why they are called 'Twits'.

He may be the King of Miami, but should LeBron James be treated like a head of state?

That's the question some are asking after the basketball superstar was given a police escort Sunday night to the Jay Z and Justin Timberlake concert at Miami's Sun Life Stadium.

The Miami Heat player, who was paid more than $19 million this year by the 2013 NBA champions, posted a video on Instagram. "Light police escort on the wrong side of the street," James is heard saying in the clip, "Headed to the big homie concert, JT. Holla."

He also tweeted about it, writing "They treat us so well! Needed it cause traffic was nuts!!"

Detective Alvaro Zabaleta of Miami-Dade Police described the incident in detail to CNN.

"The stadium got a phone call that LeBron James was stuck in traffic, so the stadium personnel got hold of one of our police supervisors working the event," Zabaleta said. "He (asked) if there is any way we can get him out of traffic and get him to the concert."

Zabaleta said an officer agreed to "take care of it."

"It wasn't hard to spot LeBron," Zabaleta said, "and what the officer did was he told the officers working the traffic detail to stop traffic, hold the traffic and then he chose to go northbound on the southbound lanes. It took him less than a mile. He turned right and went onto the stadium property.

"That's all the officer did, but LeBron went ahead and recorded it and said he was getting a police escort and going against traffic."

The entire escort covered just eight blocks, Zabaleta told CNN. "From one intersection to another," was how he put it. But he also said department policy was violated.

"We don't have our units ever go against traffic," he said. "The officer shouldn't have done that. But he didn't flagrantly say, 'I'm not going to worry about it'. He did stop traffic for eight blocks. And that was the end of it."

Zabaleta said department supervisors "are looking into the incident, and they are assessing the whole situation. But he wasn't playing Frogger the whole way," referring to a video game in which a frog tries to make it across a road amid busy traffic.

As for LeBron James, the detective only had praise. "We thank him," he said. "We thank him for providing us this footage because we were able to learn one of our officers was violating policy."

Of course Miami treats LeBron like a king. I wouldn't expect less from a city which counts drug dealing as one of it's main industries.

Bike riders who don't stop at stop signs, cut in between cars, ride on sidewalks endangering pedestrians, ride and talk on their cell phones AND then complain about cars not sharing the road with them. I got news for you arrogant yuppies, when you ride on the road the traffic laws apply to you, too. If you get hit by a car because you think you own the road, the car is still just going to have a dent and you are going to a lot of hurt.

And THAT'S the reason why Basherville bans bicycle riding!

I couldn't agree more! I still think they should have to ride in the OPPOSITE direction of traffic instead of with the traffic. That way, once they pass you, they're gone...but when they are going with the direction of traffic, they ride right along side of you, you pass them, the catch up, you pass them again, they catch up. Doesn't anyone ever think how distracting that is to a person driving a car? Once I pass them, I drive the curb...I don't care what anyone says...let them get in line BEHIND me!

What really gets me is the fact that there IS a BIKE TRAIL just 3-5 feet along the road...GET YOUR BIKE ON IT!!! I don't drive my car on your bike trail so don't ride your bike on MY road!

We have some bike trails, too. The snotty bike riders, however, prefer to ride in traffic where they can cause the most trouble. This isn't my rant alone. A lot of people are sick of this and the whiny bike-people that think they own the road.

There are alot of bike messangers downtown, they just zig zag and zip between cars, buses and trucks like they are the only one on the street. I'm surprised there isn't one hit everyday.

Last year I read an article in the paper about messengers. They were bragging about how they ignored every existing law and common courtesy in order to get through traffic and pedestrians. A couple of weeks later, one of the jerks did get smacked by a car and his pals were whimpering about what a shame it was that he was hurt and what a great guy he was. The police found that the car driver wasn't at fault and the goof went right in front of the vehicle after coming off a sidewalk (where he wasn't supposed to be). Hopefully the damage to the car was minimal.

I can't think of any rants for today. I've got a nice Labor Day with my wife, I'm not driving anywhere and we are just going to have a really relaxing time of it. Hope everyone else has a wonderful holiday, too!
