One of the things I always admired about Huck was he wasn't easily influence by the mainstream crowd.

I always thought it was funny when I started a "Cheech and chong" thread which erupted into a political debate about Vietnam deserts.

It would be interesting if there were reviews on transportation services like UBER, LYct, and taxi companies. Pirate, Stew, and Slimjim would have a field day with this.

I wonder if UBer has made it's way to Ohio and Indiana.

They would have fun with it. I don't know if those companies are in Ohio or Indiana yet, but they are in Pittsburgh except for the airport (taxi service is good there so they don't have much of a market there anyhow). In the city, they're doing well since there are some areas taxis won't go (neighborhoods where crime is high). The other thing is Pittsburgh taxis have a habit of not showing up for calls. Uber and Lyft, though, have insurance problems operating in PA. Their driver's personal insurance usually doesn't cover them if they are taking passengers as part of a commercial business.

I've never heard of either of those companies here in Cleveland.

I remember reading something about a Chinese girl getting run over by a uber cab newyears eve. The drivers personal insurance didn't cover it and uber said since there was no passengers in the car, they weren't responsible in any way. So now there is a pending lawsuit against uber and the driver.

I wouldn't object to them operating in any city as long as they regulated the same way us cab drivers are.

According to uber, taxi drivers are smelly and drive beat up old sedans. And that we have beady eyes and deliberately take the longest routes possible. They gonna rid the world of us evil cab drivers. lolol only stew knows the real truth.

I don't mind competition here in Pittsburgh, but the insurance problem bothers me. I don't want to be riding in an uninsured vehicle.

I wonder if they'll invade Russia.

Probably not. The taxi drivers over there have paid officials to be in business and I don't think they'd take kindly to upstarts like Uber! Anyway, "Uber" is a German word and Russians don't particularly care for anything that sounds German.

You're probably right. Hitler and Napoleon tried to no avail. I think Uber would suffer the same fate. Perhaps if they provided the passengers with "Free Vodka". Who knows!!

That probably would work. Cheap vodka - the Achilles Heel of the common Russian!

I actually started a thread like that on the uber and cabs site. I got a kick out of some of the responses.

I kind of like the forum even though like m3c has it share of trolls. But at least the mods rarely interfere. I could see pirate and slimjim debating which cars get the best mileage.

How vodka effects uber, lyft and taxis in Russia...you could do a research paper on that! Or a gov't study. You'd think the Russian cars would get pretty good mileage. They aren't very heavy considering some of them actually have fenders made of cardboard!

I got the feeling that Uber is going invade Basherville very soon. Some of the UBER drivers will be ghostdocj, sheriff, consumersavvyusa, churro (not charro), lidman, and of course the Jeecheroo.
