What's for Lunch

Sure you can....but Stripes is not invited.

No problem! It turns out Stripes prefers a bowl of Friskies for his Thanksgiving feast, anyway!

Breakfast, lunch and dinner today: Christmas cookies, cake and candy. Supply may run out by February. In the meantime, food can't be wasted, so sweets must be consumed. It's a tough duty, but someone has to do it!

Today's lunch...a big ol' pot of Great Northern beans and dough dodgers!!!

Not only sounds good, but I'll bet it's healthier than Christmas sweets!

Just don't tell Ejack...because tomorrow, I'm making stuffed cabbage and saurkraut for New Years.

If he finds out, he's liable to drop in on you. And in his case, that means REALLY dropping in on you!

Well, just to be prepared, in case Ejack does drop in...I bought a pack of 24 'big' rolls of Angel Soft toilet paper.

Might not hurt to install an outhouse (in the neighbor's yard, of course), too!

I can always build one under that big tree ... oh wait...I think there's a squatter living in that tree!

So, back to the original topic, 'What's for lunch'. Today, cherry pie. It's taking up space I need in the freezer so the only thing we can do is bake it and eat it. It just has to be done.

I'm ready to put my blueberry pie in the oven!
Today, it's hotdogs, cheeseburgers, mac and cheese, french fries and baked beans.

Ah! Comfort food!

Basher's Tuesday Dinner Special...

Crock Pot Cantonese Dinner

Prep Time: 12 mins
Total Time: 6 hrs 12 mins
Servings: 6

Ingredients:
1 1/2 lbs pork steak, cut into strips
1 tablespoon oil
1 medium onions, sliced
1 green peppers, cut into strips
1 (4 ounce) can mushrooms, drained
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons vinegar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce


Brown meat in oil; place in crock pot.
Mix remaining ingredients and add to pork.
Cover and cook on low for 6 hours.
Serve over rice.

That looks good and it's simple enough that even i can do it! (cutting & pasting into my recipe book!)

It turned out great, you'll love it! I just had some left overs and it tasted even better than when I made it...the pork just melted in my mouth...yummy...in fact, I didn't even give it 6 hours in the crock pot, it was only 4 hours...if I left it any longer, the meat would have just fallen apart.

You can do it Alain...it's so easy, even a caveman can do it!!!

I do have some Neanderthal DNA from my European ancestors! Poor fellows didn't have crock pots back then, though!

Crock pots would have been useless without electricity anyway...but then again, they may not have had fire yet either. Raw pork is not a good thing.

Of course Neanderthals had fire! They sat in a circle in an open field and gang-farted in thunderstorms! This may help explain their extinction, too!

Ript, that's the first I've heard about that. I don't think I'd want to live, if I thought the only choice I had for living would be to kill and eat my own kids...or anyone. Why live, if that's what you would have to live knowing everyday?
