Well I guess you could say I'm in temporary retirement after leaving Yellow Cab last week. Actually I'm moving to Oregon next month, so I would have left anyways.

One of my major conflicts with management was some of the passenger pickup spots at night. Due to lots of cabs being robbed in tough neighborhoods recently, I had been refusing more and more pickup spots that don't have specific address'. For example the corner of 3rdand h street or something is unacceptable to me. Or passengers not coming out of a house/building but rather from bushes or nowhere. l
Evenually some disputes with the asst mgr, I decided to part with the company. Probably mutual agreement.

Anyways no big financial distress, since it was merely weekends. Iowa City has become almost as dangerous as Cedar Rapids, thanks to Chicago dumping their "dregs of humanity" on us.

Uber can have Iowa City for all I care. Perhaps if Stew moved to Iowa City, he turn things around. Big question though, would Stew ever visit the Coral Ridge Mall, and shop at TARGET?

Where in Oregon? It's nice there. I have some cousins that have a farm out there and they really like it. Now you're coast to coast, Hydekelso! Long Island to Oregon with a stop in Iowa in between. I can see your displeasure with Yellow Cab. Picking up people at no fixed address just is not a really safe idea. Too bad I.C. has gone downhill. It used to be pretty safe there, but I haven't been around there for a few years now.

Actually it's not going to be for at least a couple of months. First I'm going to visit a couple of times. Im actually going to make my first visit around the easter holiday.

In the meantime I'm going to driving for a rival cab company in ICity called "Marcos". I'm going to drive about three or four days a week. About 8 or 9 hours on each shift. Screw that 12-14 hr nonsense. One thing I really like is that though they'll be less fare, the quality of the fares will be much better. They don't do many ghetto calls.

If and when I move to Oregon, most likely it'll be around Salem.

Oregon has some really nice country. My cousins live near Talent in the Rogue River Valley in the southwestern corner of the state. I hear the Wilamette River Valley around Salem is really beautiful. Next time I fly into CR airport, I'll call Marcos instead of Yellow Cab!

They must some thing about bringing fruit into their state. I recall a "Frasier" episode where Niles talks about how he drove for hours and got to the Oregon border, had fresh fruit in the car, and had to turn back.

Oregon is particular about fruits crossing their borders. They are large producers of fruit and wines. They worry a lot about bugs and Californians infesting their crops.

One thing I definitely like better about driving for Marcos is the startup fee is 4.75 compared to Yellow CAbs 2.75. It'll be slightly less in volume, but also very few ghetto calls.

That's a heck of a lot better deal than you were getting with Yellow Cab!

I wonder what it would be like to drive a cab in Oklahoma City.

Probably fun, especially if you're driving a 10 year old Dodge Ram pickup!

Well today was my full shift at Marco's. I tell you, despite making less money, it's a hell a lot easier to see the house numbers. Most the passengers are sober. But I haven't any pickups from Target. Stew must have scared them away.

They have a Target in Iowa City? Dang, the place has gotten more modern since I was last there! It's been a while, of course... Cripes, Mount Vernon might even have indoor plumbing now!

Iowa City has also gotten more dangerous with Chicago dumping a lot of their criminal elements. There are more and more neighborhood that were once respectable and now turned sour. Pheasant Ridge and TownCampus are glaring examples.

I didn't know any of this til after I left yellow cab. Apparently he has been convicted of other felonies like forgery,  scamming a mssion of funds. I wonder if he ever hooked up with Michelle Connery.

Well I've been at marco's for a month, and it seems to be working out pretty well. I think all in all it's nice having a change. So far uber hasn't come near Iowa City.

Uber seems to be losing momentum in the quest for world dominance. New Jersey refuses to kowtow to their demands as far being de regulated.

Seems like they're stable in Pittsburgh. As long as they're insured, the state is okay with either them or Lyft being available.

When I move to Portland Oregon, I might try Amazon Flex.

We've been seeing a lot of Amazon Flex deliveries in our area recently. Everybody has been very happy with them.
