According to the cooking show I saw it on, they developed a taste for it in WW II, when it was about the only meat available there. They like pork, so it fit right in.

Instead of pork, I'm thinking we'll have pheasant this year for New Years. Maybe eye of round roast for Christmas. It's a welcome change from turkey (or Spam, for that matter)!

Syrup or some jam is good for me now and again, but most of the time I just use tons of butter. Real butter. The type that docs say is bad for me. If they say it's bad for me, it just makes it taste better!

Tried something new today. A neighbor grilled a huge slab of uncut bacon then served it like a burger on a fesh kaiser roll. We all might die of a heart attack tomorrow, but we'll be happy!
