I went to the store a little earlier today, since I woke up to sleet hitting my window. I thought I'd get out there before it got too bad. Sleet and high winds. Out power went out twice already today...now there's a white out...I'll see if I can get a picture so you can enjoy it too. By the way...through that anchor out there, I see your tree swaying!

30 sec you tube ads on 2min and less clips

All the ads are a real pain in the tush. I especially hate the 'rollover to play' ads!

I hate those pop up messages on YouTubes...then, I just discovered about a week ago, that we can disable them...  

How do you disable them?

I was only able to do it on each video as I watched them...BUT...thanks to you asking me how to do it...I went on YouTube to get the steps and found I am able to set it for all videos!   

For some reason, you now have to have a Google account to sign onto YouTube. Anyway...

When you sign onto YouTube, click on your profile icon in the upper right corner.

A box will come up and under 'YouTube', click on 'YouTube Settings'.

On the left side, click on 'Playback'.

You will see, 'Annotations' and you can remove the check in the box that says, "Show annotations on videos".

Be sure to click on 'Save' on the upper right of that page when you're done.

I was just clearing out my spam account (the e-mail address I give out to merchants, etc.) and I have to wonder why I get ads for diapers, new mommy services, occasionally 'meet singles' stuff, etc. when i've never bought diapers, have never used a dating service (especially one that has 20 somethings on it, since I don't think they'd be much interested in a less than rich guy who's happily married and a quite bit older than them) and also, I'm male and intend to stay that way so being a mommy is really out of the question. Yep, good targeted advertising people. 99.99% of the garbage you send out wouldn't interest me if I was stranded on an uncharted desert island (wonder whose left from Gilligan's Island, anyway?)

Probably the same reason I get Viagra ads, Penis enlargement ads, and how to satisfy your woman ads...maybe they got our emails mixed up? LOL!

Have you found any 'Notice Of Eviction' in your spam mail? I get at least five a day telling me I'm being evicted, I have to move by such and such date or the bank will lock up my house...and court appearance notices...Looks like I must have missed at least 25 'move out' dates by now and I don't have a house with any banks.

That's weird. I've never gotten phony eviction notices. Is that just someone pulling a prank or is there some sort of purpose to it? Ya just never know what'll come up on the Internet next!

It's just another way of scamming people, I'm sure. I didn't click on them to open them..but I activated my 'review pane' so I can see the email without actually opening it...I'm sure if someone actually responded they would tell them to wire them money to call the eviction off. Believe it or not, there are people who would fall for that.

Here's another one...of course I didn't open the attachment. Hmmm...maybe Stewie is suing me! LOL!

"Hereby you are notified"? Seriously, if the Chinese are going to be running scams like this, they have to improve their wording of things! Even the Nigerian Princes can do better than that!

 

Got a fun call on the answering machine yesterday. Someone with a heavy accent (kind of Jamaican, maybe) asking for donations for the landslide in WA state. Credit card only, please. And the number is 876 area code (which is Jamaica, I think). Now why would I be suspicious of that?

I don't know, you're just not a trusting person...for some reason.  

It's because the older I get, the more grump I get. Even when I was a youngster, Mr. Wilson in Dennis the Menace was my hero! I've tried to model myself after people like Walter Matthau, too!

I wonder what's going on with students these days. I don't remember so many shootings and stabbings when I was in school.

I don't know. My Nephew lives near there and said the helicopters were flying over his house and said he never seen so many ambulances and police speeding by. He knew something was up in that little town.

I remember back in the late 90's when there quite a trend of school shootings, (too many to name) all the way up to the Columbine massacre.

I don't recall a lot in the 70's when I was in school, but things like that weren't reported that much back then. Seems like there's more pressure on younger folks these days or something.

Well now, my Nephew got a letter from his son's middle school...stating a student's mother found a note with a list of names that her son wanted to harm. She reported it to the school and police and they took him in to question and he will not be back at that school. They said, the parent's of the students that were on the list have all been notified. His son wasn't one of them, but they did send a letter to everyone to let them know about it.

Today, the police went to a high school in Akron Oh...big fights, several arrests...

I'm glad I'm not in school these days.
